Learner Records & Admissions
Keep learner profiles, family contacts and form groups up to date in one place, let families update their own details and take new applications online.
Learner records, attendance, assessment and fees — in one secure online platform
Attendance registers, fee books, mark sheets and spreadsheets that never quite agree — school administration takes up time that belongs to learners.
PHOENIX hosts, sets up and supports Gibbon, the free, open-source platform for schools and colleges created by educators, so your whole school works from one secure, up-to-date system.
Gibbon brings administration, teaching and assessment together: learner and staff records, admissions, attendance, timetables, lesson planning, markbooks, fees and communication with parents. It runs in a web browser, so office staff, teachers, parents and learners log in from any computer, tablet or phone — with nothing to install and no server in the staffroom.
We take care of the hosting, updates and backups, and work with your school online — from the first demo to training your staff — wherever in Namibia you are.

Everyday school administration in one place — instead of registers, fee books and scattered spreadsheets
Keep learner profiles, family contacts and form groups up to date in one place, let families update their own details and take new applications online.
Take registers online in seconds, follow up on absences straight away and keep class and teacher timetables organised.
Plan lessons with rich multimedia, share resources across departments and organise the school's activities programme.
Capture marks in digital markbooks and rubrics, run formal assessments and follow each learner's progress over time.
Create, issue and track invoices for school fees, and route expense requests through a clear approval process.
Message staff, parents and learners, record individual needs and behaviour, and run the school library from the same system.
Gibbon is a flexible school platform built by teachers to solve the problems schools face every day — not a business system adapted for education.

A school management system is web-based software that brings a school's administration into one place: learner and staff records, admissions, attendance, timetables, fees, marks and reports, and communication with parents. Instead of registers, fee books and separate spreadsheets, everyone works from the same up-to-date information.
Gibbon is a free, open-source school platform created by educators in 2010 and stewarded by the non-profit Gibbon Foundation. It covers administration, teaching and assessment in one system, and because it is open source there are no licence fees — you pay PHOENIX for hosting, set-up and support.
Hosted Gibbon starts from N$ 1 200 per month excl. VAT for up to 200 students and 10 GB of storage on a shared server. Larger schools, and schools that want a dedicated server, receive an individual quote.
No. Gibbon runs in a web browser and is hosted on PHOENIX servers, so staff, parents and learners log in from any computer, tablet or phone with an internet connection. There is no server to buy or maintain at your school.
Yes. Gibbon can share attendance, markbook and behaviour information with parents, and its data updater lets families keep their own contact details current. Access is controlled by user roles, so staff, parents and learners only see what is meant for them.
In most cases, yes. Learner, staff and class lists kept in spreadsheets can usually be imported during set-up. We look at your existing files first and tell you exactly what can be transferred.
PHOENIX does. We host Gibbon, keep it up to date, back up your data and support your office staff online, so your school can focus on teaching.
No. PHOENIX works online with schools across Namibia. Demos, set-up, training and support all happen remotely, so a school in Rundu or Lüderitz is served exactly like one in Windhoek.
