Moodle Hosting E-Learning Platform for Namibian Institutions
Your own Moodle LMS — installed, hosted, updated and supported for you
Hosted Moodle for Colleges, VTCs & Universities
Moodle is the world's most widely used open-source learning platform — but someone still has to install it, secure it and keep it running.
PHOENIX gives your institution its own Moodle site, hosted on our servers and looked after by our team, so lecturers can focus on courses instead of servers.
Moodle itself is free, open-source software released under the GNU General Public License, so you pay for hosting and support — not for software licences. What it needs is reliable hosting, careful configuration, regular updates and backups, and that is exactly what we take care of. You get a complete learning management system for courses, quizzes, assignments, forums and grades, available in any browser and through the free Moodle app.
Add BigBlueButton virtual classrooms and run live lectures inside your Moodle courses — ideal for distance learners, blended programmes and part-time students anywhere in Namibia.
Need a system for school administration — learner records, attendance and fees? See our school management system or all our education portals.

Live Virtual Classrooms with BigBlueButton
BigBlueButton is an open-source virtual classroom built for teaching online — not a general-purpose meeting tool.
Since Moodle 4.0, BigBlueButton is part of Moodle itself: lecturers add a live session to a course like any other activity, and it appears in the course calendar. Learners join from their browser with nothing to install, and sessions can be recorded for anyone who could not attend.
PHOENIX provides and maintains the BigBlueButton server that powers your classrooms — on a shared server or, for larger programmes, a dedicated one.
- Multi-user whiteboard
- Presentation upload
- Breakout rooms
- Polls & quizzes
- Chat & shared notes
- Session recordings
- Learning analytics dashboard
- Moodle & Gibbon integration
Add-on from N$ 1 200 p/Mexcl. VAT, shared server — dedicated server options available
Moodle Hosting FAQ
What is Moodle hosting?
Moodle hosting means your institution's Moodle site runs on a provider's servers instead of your own. PHOENIX installs and configures Moodle for you, keeps it updated and backed up, and supports your administrators online — you simply log in and start building courses.
How much does Moodle hosting cost?
Hosted Moodle starts from N$ 1 200 per month excl. VAT for up to 200 students and 10 GB of storage on a shared server. Larger institutions, more storage or a dedicated server are quoted individually.
Moodle is free — why pay for hosting?
The Moodle software is free and open source, so there are no licence fees. Running it reliably is the real work: a secure server, configuration, updates, backups and help when something goes wrong. Hosting with PHOENIX covers that, so your institution does not need its own server administrator.
Can students use Moodle on their phones?
Yes. Moodle works in any modern mobile browser, and the free Moodle app for Android and iOS lets learners download course content, work on many activities offline and sync when they reconnect — useful where mobile data is expensive or connections are patchy.
Can we run live online classes in Moodle?
Yes, with the BigBlueButton add-on. Lecturers schedule virtual classroom sessions inside their courses, learners join from the browser without installing anything, and sessions can be recorded for learners who could not attend.
Can you move our existing Moodle site to PHOENIX?
Usually, yes. Moodle courses and sites can be moved using Moodle's backup and restore tools or a full site migration. We review your current installation, version and plugins first and plan the move with you.
Is Moodle the right choice for a primary or secondary school?
Moodle is used by schools as well as universities, especially for online courses and homework. Colleges, VTCs, universities and training providers usually get the most out of it. Schools that mainly need administration — learner records, attendance and fees — are better served by a school management system such as Gibbon.
Do we need to be in Windhoek to work with you?
No. PHOENIX works online with institutions across Namibia. Consultations, set-up, administrator training and support all happen remotely, so your location makes no difference.
